Sakarya University Department of Mathematics was founded in 1992 within Faculty of Arts and Science. Totaly 32 instructor including 5 Professor, 7 Associate Professor, 12 Assistant Professor and 8 Research Assistant serve in our department. The main purpose of Mathematics department is to create a good base for all areas of Mathematics. Besides, it is capable of basic mathematical knowledge and independent thinking, which can estimate problems, potential solutions to the problems faced by taking over and can produce different perspectives, educate researches who are capable of independent work specially in the areas of Pure and Applied Mathematics.
Our department has accepted student to morning education since 1993 and to evening education since 1999. In our Department, some courses are given in the areas of Theory of Functions and Functional Analysis, Algebra and Number Theory, Topology, Geometry, Applied Mathematics, Foundations of Mathematics and Logic. It is learned to use the computer for students of department and also computer programming courses are given. The students completed the programme graduate as “Mathematicians”. Graduated Mathematicians have wide work opportunities both in the public and private sector.
Our department has started to gratuade since 1997. Also, Master and Doctorate progarmmes are available within Instute of Science and Technology.
